Violent Attack in Rocky Mountain National Park

Rangersat Rocky Mountain National Park, where violent crime is rare, areinvestigating a report of an assault on a trail runner on Saturday, according to coloradoan.com. A20-year-old woman was taking a break from a runalong the Glacier Creek Trail on Saturday evening when she was attackedfrom behind by a white male, park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson said. Thewoman was able to fight off her attacker and ran down the trail to callfor help. Theincident occurred about a half mile from the Glacier Basin Campground,prompting park officials to step up ranger patrols there. Violent assaults are exceedingly rare at Rocky Mountain National Park, which sees about 3 million visitors annually.
