Black Series HQ12 ($50,000)
The Black Series HQ12 weighs 4,422 pounds, is 19 feet long, and may be the most capable adventure trailer on the planet. The all-terrain chops start with the suspension, which uses four shocks instead of two. Each wheel moves independently, smoothing out bumps, and a burly galvanized-steel frame and diamond-plated rock guard add protection. Inside, a full kitchen, toilet, and shower connect to a 50-gallon freshwater tank, with an additional 16-gallon container for drinking water. A furnace and air conditioner, dual-pane windows, and insulation keep you comfortable, and there’s space to sleep four. The electrical system runs on shore power or two 150-watt solar panels and a battery. Our favorite feature: the second kitchen, which slides out of an exterior compartment and has a three-burner stove, sink, and large prep table for cooking al fresco. Because one kitchen is for suckers.
Hiker Trailer Extreme Off-Road Deluxe ($7,995 and up)
Looking for something a little simpler? The Hiker Trailer Extreme Off-Road Deluxe can be stored in your garage and is light enough to be pulled by a Jeep Wrangler. But 25 inches of ground clearance, 33-inch tires, an aluminum exterior, and a rugged steel frame mean it’ll go anywhere your 4×4 can. Soft-ride leaf springs and shocks translate to a smooth ride.
Four Wheel Campers Hawk ($19,395 and up)
The Four Wheel Campers Hawk is the best go-anywhere camper for full-size pickups. It’s deceptively roomy, with 6.5 feet of standing room and a bed that sits over the truck cab. It sleeps three adults (or two adults and two kids) and has a full kitchen, 20-gallon freshwater tank, and 120-volt electrical system.
Roofnest Falcon ($3,395 and up)
Roofnest is known for high-quality, affordable car-top tents, and the Falcon is our favorite yet. Its honeycomb aluminum construction is sturdier than fiberglass, and the clamshell design gives you more headroom than Roofnest’s other tents. At 6.5 inches tall when closed, it won’t wreck your fuel economy.
