Happily, there’s now the Crossroad system, for adding crossbars to any existing rails. » The installation is straightforward—if you can’t work one of these, you shouldn’t be behind the wheel. A simple-to-use, rubber-coated steel band clamps around the rails on everything from a Volvo wagon to an Xterra. » Swapping cars? There’s no need to hit the toolshed. Instead, unlock the cap piece, pull out the integrated Allen wrench, and use it to loosen the strap, then reinstall the crossbar on your alternate ride.
Hmmm . . .To get a tight fit on canted rails, you’ll need to run a few laps around your car, making adjustments as you go.
