This 120-flex-rated boot has a grippy Vibram sole for better traction on boot packs, and comes with three modes: lock, for agressive skiing; ride, a more flexible setting for softer snow; and hike, for heading up. But it’s the fully customizable fit that sets it apart.  Whereas most custom boots are tailored to better fit your foot with injected foam or a heat-moldable liner, the entire shell of Fischer’s Vacuum Fit boots, which debuted this year and will be available in 12 models next winter, are heated up and molded to your foot. The process is pretty quick (about an hour or so), and can be done by any shop with one of Fischer’s Vacuum stations. After they make adjustments for your desired stance width, forward lean, and knee alignment, they heat the boot up and essentially wrap it around your foot. The Vacuum machine can make the boot as comfortable or tight as you like. If you want to tweak the fit, you can just heat the boot up and do it again. Available Fall 2012.
