This week, we scanned Amazon's bestseller list for the highest-rated daypacks, then pulled the best, most authoritative reviews for each.
Outlander 20L ($20)
“I needed a packable backpack for my trip to Brazil and this bag was perfect! I wore it while hiking through the jungle in Iguassu Falls where the weather was unpredictable and it kept all my belongings mostly dry. At one point, I was able to fit a change of clothes, sunscreen, towel, and a bunch of other items. I liked the smaller pockets for items that needed to be easily accessible. The price point is great and it didn't take up any room in my luggage. I also used it later in my trip as an extra bag for souvenirs.”
Osprey Daylite ($50)
“I'm addicted to this pack. I can wear it anywhere: back home on day hikes, trail runs in the West, and all around NYC. It fits two full Nalgene bottles in the side pockets as well as my 13-inch MacBook Pro, a book, and a light jacket. It's small, but packs more than I expected!
The North Face Vault ($55)
“I love the support in this backpack. I'm always carrying my laptop and a couple notebooks or books and it never feels weighed down. There are also tons of organization space and pockets in the smaller section. I've used it daily for a few months already and so far it has no signs of wear.”

“I bring this pack on every outdoor adventure. It holds my hammock, poncho, snacks, water bottle, kindle, fishing tackle, bug spray, sunblock, and sunglasses in the pockets. I often strap a towel or fishing rods to the outside by using the full length of the straps to go across the entire pack. It handles weight well especially considering its light frame.”

“I bought this bag because I was looking for a backpack that I could use for daily commuting, walking, or biking. It's been great! It's constructed well and can easily hold my 15-inch MacBook Pro along with a sweater, water bottle, and books. The straps use a very clever hook and loop mechanism that takes some getting used to but seems much more long-lasting than the plastic clips used on other bags.”

“I honestly cannot think of any way this pack could be better. The storage is well thought out and comprehensive. The hard case on the exterior to protect glasses is an excellent innovation. The outside elastic pockets are tall enough so that there is little chance of bottles falling out. The straps are very comfortable and easy to adjust. The exterior open pocket is another great inclusion. Thule simply didn't miss a thing.”
