THE SELL: An ultralight daypack with the appetite of a weekender. THE TEST: While the spartan suspension (just a quarter-inch of back padding) would limit some packs to day-hiking loads, Osprey gave the Hornet just enough volume (32 liters) and big-pack features (an assortment of load-stabilizing straps, a floating top lid, and a bunch of attachment points) for us to eke out an overnight with ultralight gear. THE VERDICT: Thumbs up for the fast-packing set, but if you tend to overpack, you’ll want something with more suspension, like the Gregory Z40. 1.3 lbs
