Team Climbs Kilimanjaro Barefoot

Six barefoot climbers on Saturday reached the summit of Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro in what may be the first ascent of one of the seven summits without shoes. The expedition raised funds for Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. Though climbers faced two feet of snow near the 19,341-foot summit,  all appear to have avoided serious injury. The team, called The Barefoot Impi, included exercise physiologist and Science of Sport blogger Ross Tucker.
