Annette McGivney is an award-winning author of five nonfiction books and a longtime writer for Outside. She is also a contributor to Backpacker, The Guardian, Runners World, and Arizona Highways. Her book Pure Land won the National Outdoor Book Award in 2018. McGivney is a professor emeritus in Journalism at Northern Arizona University, where she taught courses in investigative reporting and environmental journalism for two decades.
