A Minnesota family was driving to get pizza on Saturday when a deer came flying through the front window of their car, whacked family members in the face, then continued on through the back window, KARE11 News reports.

Chris and Sue Blake and their 17-year-old daughter Olivia were cruising down Highway 68 when the car in front of them struck the deer, sending the animal airborne. “It came right through the windshield and actually t-boned me in the face,” Chris told KARE 11. Both Chris and Olivia suffered broken facial bones.

The investigating officer said in 20 years of service, he had never seen a deer sail through an entire car. Perhaps deer hit by cars usually end up on the side of the road, or in the back seat à la Tommy Boy.

Saturday was the first day of Minnesota's deer hunting season.
