Free Wi-Fi will be available at eight hot spots on Mount Fuji, beginning July 10, the Asahi Shimbun reported Monday. The Japanese government hopes the service will help attract more overseas visitors to Japan’s tallest mountain.

The Wi-Fi is the result of a partnership between local government and NTT Docomo, a Japanese mobile phone operator. To access the service, hikers will need to pick up a Wi-Fi card at one of mountain’s rest stations.

“We hope people will use the service, not only to tell about the attractions of Mount Fuji to people abroad, but also to obtain weather and other information to ensure their safety,” a local government official told the Asahi Shimbun.

Wi-Fi on Mount Fuji will be available until the climbing season ends in mid-September.
