After initially claiming a no-refund policy when the New York City Marathon was canceled last month due to Hurricane Sandy, officials have announced that entrants will be able to receive a refund of their entry fee from this year’s race. The New York Road Runners club informed runners that they also have the option of going for a guaranteed spot in any of the next three NYC Marathons, in which they’d have to pay an entry fee at the 2012 rate, or taking a spot in March’s NYC half marathon and paying the entry fee. The entry-fee refund only applies to runners who did not withdraw prior to October 24 and excludes the $11 processing fee. Entry fees ranged from $216 to $347.
