On October 13, award-winning science writer David Quammen joined Outside for a live conversation on Zoom about his new book Breathless: The Scientific Race to Defeat a Deadly Virus, which was just named a finalist for the National Book Awards. Quammen answered reader questions on everything from how scientists predicted that a coronavirus would cause the next big pandemic long before COVID-19 to how to effectively communicate complex scientific ideas to a general audience in such politicized times.
