Overlanding rigs come in all shapes and sizes: they can be totally custom monster trucks or souped-up Subarus, and owners often go to great lengths to build the vehicle they want. Phoenix-area resident Bevan Walsh wanted a sturdy, self-contained rig but didn't want to sink a ton of money into it, so he went with a retired Freightliner FL60 ambulance. As Walsh explains in this video from the 2016 Overland Expo East, ambulances already have a lot of the systems in place that the overlanding crowd looks for, which makes them a great platform to build on.
