If (somehow) you need more proof that the Vanagon Syncro 4WD makes one of the greatest adventuremobiles of all time, look no further than Greg and Katie Blachon's van. These two bought it for $500 and spent three years modifying it with upgrades like a Subaru diesel engine, a camper top, and solar panels. They then hit the road for two years, driving from Nashville, Tennessee, to Patagonia and racking up 51,500 miles before heading home. Life doesn't get much better.
