With the weight of the entire U.S. government bearing down on them, the Gwich'in people gather together to restore their unified heartbeat. The oil drilling proposal they are opposing would directly impact the breeding grounds of the Porcupine Caribou. This herd has a longstanding relationship with the Gwich'ins as a source of sustenance, spirituality, and livelihood. They are reliant on the Porcupine Caribou herd of the Artic National Wildlife Refuge.  The Refuge from Patagonia and Finback Films examines this 20-year fight to protect the Gwich'in way of life.
