The wiwinu, or huckleberry, is a traditional food for the Indigenous Warm Springs tribe of north-central Oregon. Every August, its members set out in search of huckleberry bushes to pick, harvesting a bounty for the community’s annual feast that celebrates the fruit. Wiwinu (Huckleberries), by Brutis Baez, a winner of Eddie Bauer’s One Outside Film Grant, tells the story of wiwinu and why the berry has remained important for Warm Springs people today.
