U2 Threatens to Sue Race Organizers

U2 may or may not like bikes, but they certainly don't like anyone making claims about their cycling predilections. Case in point: The band threatens to sue the organizers of the 2010 Singlespeed World Mountain Bike Championships for making “outrageous claims” on behalf of the band.

Apparently, Bono and The Edge don't plan on attending Worlds this October in Rotorua, New Zealand and living it up at the local pub, the Pig & Whistle, while supporting Ireland's bid to be the host city of the race in 2011.

“I thought the !@#?! Irish had a sense of humour,” said Dean Watson, this year's event director. “On the other hand, singlespeeding is all about giving it to The Man, so I say let U2 and their corporate jackals take their best shot. If someone loses their business, well, so be it…The photos stay up”–including the one shown here. Photoshop anyone?
