As much as we love a top-shelf mummy bag, it can be annoyingly constrictive and, on summer nights, too hot. That’s why we’re so smitten with the Tango Solo ($300), which, technically speaking, is really more of a high-tech 700-fill down duvet than a sleeping bag.
Elastic in the foot box and removable hood snugs the blanketlike Tango to a pad, allowing you to sprawl out and roll around unrestricted. Midsummer, we ditched the hood and let our legs hang out. On a chilly fall night, we kept the hood on and still had room to side-sleep in the rectangular design.
When we know temperatures will dip below freezing, we’ll still pack a mummy, but for all other outings, we’re going Tango Solo. 30°; 1.8 lbs; nemoequipment.com
