Climate Neutral is a nonprofit organization that guides brands in achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by helping them measure, offset, and reduce their carbon footprint. It’s one of the best third-party sustainability certifications to look out for. Today, 13 Climate Neutral Certified brands are participating in a one-day ‘Better With Friends’ flash sale. There’s lots to browse, but these six are some of the best deals available on April 20.
Sunski

Our Pick: Sunski Portola Polarized Sunglasses ($41; 40 Percent Off)
Take advantage of 40 percent off Sunski’s entire Full Send collection and score yourself a pair of affordable and durable polarized sunglasses made from recycled plastic. Sunski takes scrap plastic destined for the landfill and repurposes it into lightweight polycarbonate resin and turned into sunglass frames. The Singlefin shades made the list of the best women’s sunglasses by Outside’s editors, but the Portola is pick. They’re also backed by a lifetime warranty, which covers just about everything but running them over with a car (and they might even cover that if you tell them a good story).

Klean Kanteen

Our Pick: Klean Kanteen Insulated TKWide 32-ounce ($32; 30 Percent Off)
Outside’s Gear Guy called the Klean Kanteen TKWide 32-ounce one of his favorite insulated water bottles. This stainless steel container will keep your coffee hot for a full day and ice will last even longer. I like the simplicity of the wide loop cap, but you can swap out the lid for other compatible ones if you’d prefer a straw or café cap. The textured powder coating on the bottle’s exterior is durable and easy to grip, and the bottle is leak-proof, so it won’t spill in your backpack. The 30 percent off deal is good for everything sitewide, but you can’t go wrong with the big, wide, good-for-everything container.

Rumpl

Our Pick: Rumpl Original Puffy Blanket ( $98; 25 Percent Off)
Rumpl’s original puffy blankets are like wrapping yourself in a warm hug. They’re lightweight, durable, and they stand up to outdoor use. The weather-resistant blanket is treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish, and both the ripstop shell and the synthetic insulation are made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled materials. The cape clip on the single-person blanket is my favorite feature, and the stuff stack is nice for tucking it away when not in use.
Use the code FRIENDS to get 25 percent off. The offer excludes RAD Artist prints, collaborations, and third party products, so unfortunately you can’t get a discount on the new Bob Ross design, but you can score the original puffy for under $100.

LifeStraw

Our Pick: LifeStraw Peak Series Collapsible Squeeze 1L Bottle With Filter ($29; 25 Percent Off)
The classic LifeStraw ($15; 25 percent off) just got upgraded after nearly two decades of reliable field use, and the brand also added collapsible squeeze bottles to the mix. I like the one-liter squeeze bottle option because you don’t need to get your mouth right down to the water source when you’re out for a hike; you can simply fill up the vessel and then drink through it directly or squeeze it into another container like a cooking pot. Like all LifeStraw products, the filter removes bacteria, parasites, and microplastics, and can be threaded onto a standard water bottle or affixed to the end of a hose. The collapsible bag takes up practically no space in a backpack when it’s empty, so it’s a nice backup to have if you run out of water mid-hike.
The 25 percent discount with code FRIENDS will apply to all outdoor and emergency products but not to home products, home replacement filters, or safe water contributions.

Ombraz

Our Pick: Ombraz Dolomite Armless Sunglasses ($105; 25 Percent Off)
The Ombraz Dolomite armless shades made Outside’s best sunglasses of 2021 list as the top choice for river days. Their unique feature is that they’ve got no sidearms—just an adjustable nylon cord to hold them in place. The upshot to the strap is that they won’t fall off when you’re biking, paddling, climbing, or doing any other activity upside down or sideways, and they can hang around your neck when the clouds roll in. The frame, available in two sizes, is constructed from cellulose acetate, a plant-based material. They’ve also got a touch of side shielding to reduce peripheral glare. Like all Ombraz sunglasses, the Dolomite’s are backed by a lifetime warranty covering the cord and frames but not the lenses (which can be replaced if needed).

BioLite

Our Pick: BioLite FirePit+ ($240; 20% Percent Off)
Biolite’s 20 percent off sale applies to everything sitewide, so today’s your chance to get a decent discount on the FirePit+, the take-anywhere wood and charcoal burning fire pit that’s perfect for backyards, patios, and beach picnics. On the side of the pit is a USB-rechargeable battery-powered fan that injects oxygen into the fire, allowing you to control the size of your flame manually or from the comfort of your camp chair using the Bluetooth app. There’s a learning curve to figure out the airflow, but the FirePit+ is nearly smokeless once you do. It doubles as a hibachi-style grill when it’s time to cook. One of the coolest things about the FirePit+ is the mesh paneling on the sides, which all but disappear when the fire burns hot, giving you an almost see-through look at the flames.
