Lively cushioning helps on roads, but testers were more impressed with how the outsole kept them glued to everything from dirt and gravel to scrambly boulders. It has solid protection from debris and secure lateral stability for off-camber trails. And the flexible forefoot makes it perfect for uptempo runs and hills. The quick-pull laces?
