For the 2020 Outside bike test, we joined Josh Patterson, our test director, and 27 other riders in northwest Arkansas for a week of nonstop action. This year saw the rise of short- and mid-travel trail bikes, with frame geometry made for climbing efficiently and tackling any terrain on the way down. By the end of the test, the most raved-about rig was the Revel Rascal, a versatile 29er with geometry that places the rider in a neutral position for optimal handling. As one tester put it, the bike was “fun at any speed.”
