I’m rough on things. My childhood nickname was Miss Destructo. When my husband proposed, he handed me the ring with a romantic “Please don’t break this.” So testing the Oxx Coffeeboxx, billed as the world’s toughest coffee maker, felt like a personal challenge. Made from the same burly plastic used in power tools, the 12-pound single-serve brewer can withstand 1,500 pounds of pressure—you know, in case you need to park a 4×4 on it. I punted it. I chucked it deep into an Appalachian holler. I flooded the water chamber. Doggedly, it spurted out cup after cup. In desperation, I lassoed the thing, threw a leg over my thoroughbred, and took the Coffeeboxx for a gallop. Dusty but not defeated, it percolated on. Oxx’s house-brand coffee, Workhorse, lives up to its name with solid if unremarkable flavor. Because the Coffeeboxx requires an outlet, it’s better suited to #vanlife than a campsite, but it’s a sound investment for any caffeine addict who happens to live with a Miss Destructo. $230
